Everest Region

Everest Region:
The Everest Region is the region of Mahalangur Himalayan range where lies the Mt.Everest , traditionally known as Chomolunga-"Mother Goddess" or Sagarmatha-"Head reaching the sky" the world's highest mountain. In the region lies other mountains such as Cho Oyu (98153m) Lhotse (8511m) Nuptse (7879m), Makalu(8470m), Ama Dablam (6856m). This is the most concentrated mountain regionwith the highest mountains; that is more than 200 peaks are higherthan 6000m. The region is also the home of the Sherpas and outpost of Tibetan Buddhism with its many fascinating monasteries. The mountains, the people, their villages and their way of life ensurelasting memories of the walk.
1. Expedition Route
This 3 weeks trek follows the old and ancient route of Mt.EverestSir Edmund Hillary and Mr. Tenzing Sherpa had taken the same route in1952. A seven hour drive takes you to Jiri, from where the trek starts.The route passes through the Sherpa villages of Solukhumbu area; throughbeautiful forests, farming country sides and several monasteries.Once one has passed Lukla, we climb on to Namche, the main tradingvillage of the Khumbu area continuing via Thyangboche monastery to Pherche and Lobuche. The trekkers have the opportunity to climb KalaPathar(5,545m), overlooking the Base Camp area and offering a superbview of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and other mountains of the region. A half an hour flight from Lukla takes us back to Kathmandu.
2. Gokyo-Everest Base Camp
This trek gives an ample opportunity to explore the Everest regionthoroughly.It provides the possibility to walk through some of the mostdramatic landscapes through Kumbu Himal, Gokyo valley and pass. Ahalf an hour flight from Kathmandu will take us to Lukla; The routefollows the Dudh Koshi to its source near the Gokyo Lake to the westof the Everest Base Camp. Trekkers have an opportunity to climb GokyoPeak(5,483m) which offers an excellent view of Cho Oyo, Everest, Makalu and many other peaks. After crossing the Chyugima La pass(5420m), the route circles back via Everest Base Camp, Kala Pathar and Thyanghoche monastery to Lukla.
3. Kala Pathar-Everest Base Camp.
This trek starts after a spectacular flight from Kathmandu to Lukla,from where we take an interesting route to the heart of Sherpa country.After Namche, the views are stunning. We take time to explore the region. En route are the Khumjung, Pangboche and Thyangboche and numerous Sherpa villages. Thyangboche Ridge(3875m) is said to be themost beautiful place on earth by most of the trekkers. As early morningsun rays descend on Kala Pathar(5545m),it offers a spectacular viewof Pumori(7145m), Everest, Lhotse,Nuptse and the wild beauty of the Khumbu region. Return is via Pangboche and Phortse villages, which liehigh above the junction of the Dudh Koshi and Imja Khola.
4. Sherpa Village
This fascinating trek takes you to the heart of the giant massifspassing through colorful and beautiful Sherpa villages, each villagehaving something unique to offer. En routes are the Namche Bazar,Thengboche, Photse, Khumjung, Pangboche and numerous Sherpa villagesand rustic scenes. One rest day is planned at Namche Bazar foracclimatization and also to give the benefit of the absolutely majesticviews of the mountains and to understand the world famous mountaineeringpeople. A rest day at the Thyangboche gives an opportunity to explorethe monastery situated at the world's highest elevation.
