Tours of Kathmandu Valley

Presented here are some of the interesting spots within the valley of kathmandu.The valley has more UNESCO World Heritage sites to offer than any country at a single place.Within 650 Sq.Km,it consists of three main cities of great historical and cultural interest-Kathmandu,Patan and Bhaktapur,with old palaces and squares(Durbar Squares)and many small villages and suburbs like Changunarayan,Bungamti,Paanauti,Sankhu and others.Three Naths(Lords)-Bodhanath,Pashupatinath and swayambhunath are very important religious places for both Hindus and Buddhists.

Kathmandu:
Kathmandu,the capital of Nepal,is named after a medieval pagoda"Kasthamandapa"-wooden house.Here,at Dubar Square,one can visit the house of Kumari(Living Goddess),Hanuman Khoka and many other fascinating temples and bazaars in the area.
Swayambhunath:
Swayambhunath is regarded as one of the oldest stupas in the world.The stupa is also known as "Monkey Temple".It is said to be more than 2000 years old.The stupa,perched on a sacred hilltop is surrounded with votive stupas,gilded peacocks,taras,thunderbolt(Vajra),manmdalas,Tibetan monasteries and a temple of Harati Ajima.
Bhaktapur:
Bhaktapur,"City of Devotees",is also known as Bhad Gaon.This beautiful medieval town is the most preserved of the three medieval cities of Kathmandu valley.There are fascinating architectural show pieces-the Lion Gate,Golden Gate and palace of 55 windows.In the Taumadi Square,one can visit the 17th century pagoda Nyatapol,the tallest and the best example of a pagoda.
Pashupatinath:
It is one of the most sacred of all Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.It is situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River,where the cremation Ghats are located.A quiet and peaceful place gevs one an insight into one of the World's greatest religions.Non-Hindus are not allowed to enter the temple.
Bouddhanath:
Bouddhanath,the world's largest Buddhist stupa,is the site of great veneration for Himalayan Buddhists.Being on the old Tibet-Nepal trading route and many Tibetans living around the area,there are many monasteries of the different sects of Tibetan Buddhism being built.Walking around this stupa will give one a glimpse of Tibet.
