Major Trekking Regions of Nepal

A trek can be a short one-day hike to a mountain-top or ridge for spectacular views of the mountains. It can be a three or four day excursion further north for a closer look at the Himalayan range, or it can be a month long walk in the shadow of the mighty peaks. The extent to which one exerts oneself is competely variable. In choosing a trek, many factors must be considered. The most important factor among them is the time available. Some trekking takes a minimum number of days and some regions are not recommended for less then minimum number of days. For example, Everest Region for less than 10 days is not advised. The individual strenght/ability and budget are also important factors. Certain treks offer majestic mountain scenery, others a glimpse of hill life and others display spectacular flora and fauna. The time of year is the most important factor to be considered. Certain treks, interesting at a time of the year will be difficult or even impossible at an other time like Round Annapurna Trek, Dolpa Trek. It should be kept in mind that the tea house trek is possible only along the most popular trekking trails. They are Everest , Langtang and Annapurna . It will be cheaper to go on a teahouse trek but will be heavily crowded during the tourist season.
From a trekking point of view, Nepal may be divided into 5 different regions. They are:-
1. Far Easter Region ( Kanchangunja Region)
2. Eastern Region (Everest Region)
3. Mid Region (Langtang Region)
4. Western Region( Annapurna Region)
5. Off the Beaten Track
